Mark Strong seems to have made his career out of playing villains and questionable characters, from 'Lord Blackwood' in Sherlock Holmes to 'Frank D'Amico' in Kick-Ass and 'Sinestro' in Green Lantern. So it's no surprise that in Disney's 2012 adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs 'John Carter of Mars' he gets to play the titular hero's alien adversary.
Original costume worn by Mark Strong as Matai Shang in John Carter
These Martian robes worn by 'Matai Shang', the Hekkador (leader) of the Holy Therns cult, were designed by Mayes C. Rubeo and were photographed on display at ArcLight Sherman Oaks cinema on February 23, 2012.
Be sure to also check out the costumes she designed for Princess Dejah Thoris and John Carter himself in the movie.
